“It is unbelievably catchy; a sleek and sparkling ripper. Warmer days beg for a track this good.”

Kat King's career started as far back as 2nd grade in small town Kansas. As a solo singer-songwriter act, she produced one 13-song album and three EP's, the first one released at the age of 14. Now based in Kansas City, Kat King graduated into a 5-piece indie-pop rock group who’ve released a five-song EP and two singles together.

In April of 2021, they dropped their first single together titled “Don’t Wanna Lose.” The tune made it into regular rotation on Kansas City’s local station 90.9 The Bridge. It was later voted in at second place for The Bridge’s listeners choice of Best Songs of 2021.

“Now, with the release of this EP, her piano-based singer-songwriter talents have graduated into an impressively recorded and produced pop artist.”

On June 9th, the group released their debut EP titled “Say What You Mean.” The EP captures audiences with feelings of love, loss, and self-acceptance while simultaneously inviting listeners to get up and dance. Sophie Johnson of Manor Records remarked that, "listening to this EP feels like experiencing one of the most entertaining and cleverly written stories about a period of Kat's life."

After the release of "Say What You Mean," they maintained their momentum by dropping several singles. Many of these tracks, including "New Sun," "With Nothing in My Way," and "Baby Talk," became staples on 90.9 The Bridge's regular rotation. This earned them a spot on the Main Stage at Kansas City’s Boulevardia, where they performed alongside Jason Isbell, The War and Treaty and The Beths. They have since played at various festivals from Indianapolis to Erie, Colorado.

In April 2024, Kat King released their second EP, titled "Domestic Bliss." Psychedelic Baby Magazine praised the EP, stating, "Kat’s vocal experience shines here as she reflects on her anxieties and dreams; her perfect pitch control and tight timing with the band exemplify how much of a real unit this group is. No person or part feels ill thought-out or out of place throughout the entire EP, and each individual feels like the right choice for their respective parts."

Through different musical projects, Kat has shared the stage with an impressive list of artists including Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, The Beths, Michigander, Creed Bratton, Houndmouth, Nathaniel Rateliff, Leon Bridges, War and Treaty, Ohmme, Lomelda, and Eliza & the Delusionals.

Sophie Johnson of Manor Records says King is “highly regarded for her ability to hustle in the music scene.” She’s known to bounce from a multitude of instruments, the most recent addition being the keytar. As a sought after musician, she’s accompanied many acts from keys to lead guitar, the latest being Katy Guillen and The Drive.

“With exhilarating live shows, a first-rate band, and polished pop gems, Kat King has become one of Kansas City's most in-demand indie artists.”
